I entered the Breach in ~ 2015, during wave 2 of M2e. My first few masters included Kaeris, Ramos, Nicodem and Spirit Molly, with which I bullied my local scene in Auckland, New Zealand. With my beloved Ramos and Nicodem receiving the Dead Man's Hand treatment, and Spirit Molly being butchered in the transition to M3e, I was lukewarm on Malifaux for a while, waiting for something new and shiny to catch my eye. When the Explorer's Society were announced, and I saw the artwork of Calypso posted, I was all in; I knew I would play this faction and this model, no matter what. Explorer's indeed regenerated my love for the game; fast forward to today, and true to form, I'm a fanatic 'Teal Legionaire', with a particular fondness for Maxine, Lord Cooper, and of course, Calypso. I enjoy playing at both highly competitive and casual levels, alternative game modes such as Doubles, and fostering community growth. Interests outside of Faux include gym, hiking, rock climbing, Warhammer 40k (I am a Dark Eldar and Chaos Space Marines enjoyer), board games, vodka, cricket and rugby (I'm a frothing, unrepentant Springboks fan, as I hail from South Africa). I started playing Malifaux in 2019. When the pandemic hit and closed the door on meatspace gaming, I turned to Vassal to scratch my newly discovered Malifaux itch. I became involved with the MWS as it was getting off the ground. I do a lot of behind the scenes work for the series, such as building player packs and organizing our documentation. Having a hybrid Vassal/IRL series has been a dream of mine since the MWS started, so I hope this season goes well! My first 20 games of ‘faux were on Titania, and I had a series of Titania vs Zipp matches that will live forever as some of the most exciting games of Malifaux I have ever played. My days of Titania taught me that planted roots is one of the most insane abilities in the game, and so I began to feel a lead-lined yearning in my heart of hearts. Lately, I have been playing Guild, where I really enjoy ruining people’s plans to score Carve a Path with Nellie. I’m a “cat dad” of four cats, which is too many cats. They do not get along. I photoshopped one of my cats, Martin, onto my proxies of Sgt. Walter.”

“I played my first game of Malifaux in 1.5, diving hard into the game a little bit later with the Lady Justice box from M2E (oh man, those death marshalls!). With M3E I started to play competitively, and made the big jump with the season 1 of the MWS, which allowed me to meet a bunch of AWESOME folks around the world! I even traveled more than 7000km to meet some of them in person and play, and it was AWESOME! I could only pick one faction, my true love is Bayou. Wong is my bae, I’m a HUGE fan of 80s and 90s movies and I love Big Trouble in Little China (and practically half of John’s Carpenters films). For the MWS, I do a little bit of everything, mainly anything related to stats and organization. I try to help with rules lawyering, but I’m terrible at it. Other than Malifaux, I’m usually lying down on the sofa actively complaining about capitalist society, drinking in a bar complaining about capitalist society or going up some mountains hoping to cross paths with cute animals.” Editor’s Note: “socialist dad”

“I began my journey with Malifaux at the tail end of M2E—Shen Long and Mei Feng were my loves and I was attracted to the game after being enchanted by the sense of depth of the game and largely the community of people involved. I’m (fairly well) known to be a Perdita Enjoyer, but really love to see challenging stuff across the table—complex engines are my thing, so McMourning and co really light my fire! I have a passion for events management and relish the opportunity to bring the Malifaux community nothing short of the highest quality events we have to offer. I’m a “sideline coach dad”—I love to see people succeed and fervently offer my input at every stage. I do what I do out of a mutual love for both individuals and the communities that they create! “

I started my journey to Malifaux at the beginning of M2E. Hoffman and Raspi were my first loves until I had my Ten Thunders phase. Till then I played more or less regulary but in a rather small community (Austria had 8 players at best :( ) At first I thought COVID is going to kill my beloved hobby, but then I found the Vassal Malifaux Community. Not only have I learned so much about this game since then, but I also met somany incredible people/player all around the world.

“I started playing Malifaux halfway through M2E, being first lured in by Pandora’s crew, which included Candy and Teddy reminding me of Annie and Tibbers from League of Legends. Before Malifaux, I played both 40k and 8th Edition Warhammer Fantasy, until my Tomb Kings were editioned from existence. I got to start working with the MWS Committee by being notably dedicated to rules adjudication, a cause to which I still gladly serve to this day. My favorite master is Nekima, a master that I loved even as a henchman in M2E, and my favorite master to play into is Levi, as his crew mechanics I always sincerely respect but he has enough gaps in his armor that he can be bested by good decision making if the player isn’t careful. I’m a “chill dad” to a 2 year old girl, who loves tickles, her momma, and eating anything I’m eating; a sure sign I have good taste.”

“I started playing Malifaux around 2018, after some years of doing Warmachine; first with Outcasts and later on with Guild (I also have some Explorer’s models, tbh), bouncing between the two factions. As well as participating in the rules conversations I think I’m currently the only v of the few in the European timezone, so I try to be available for EU/UK-zoned events and questions. My current favourite master is Leveticus because he is as surgical as I want him to be, and just by doing maths (not that complicated maths) you know what can die this turn and what can’t. I wouldn’t go drinking with him though, I’d rather go with Tull. I’m the kind of dad who is always severe and grumpy but at the end of the day is actually permissive and enjoys having the kids/cats/whatnots have their fun time (no kids, but two cats IRL). The pic is of me with my favourite piece of the British Museum (the T-shirt acknowledges it)
